    Senior Data Scientist – London – Insurance - £100k

    Are you a Data Scientist who has experience solving problems in regulated industries?

    Would you like to apply some of the more recent machine learning models to solve insurance problems?

    Who are we?

    We’re one of the largest Insurance companies in the world, with over 50,000 people across the globe and we are looking for a Data Scientist to join our Data team within our actuary group, based in London.  The Data Science team is fairly newly established, currently sitting at 4 people with a goal to double that by the end of the year. You’d also be working in collaboration with and have the support of the Data teams from some of the other groups within the business.

    What should my background look like?

    You’ll come from a strong statistical analysis/mathematical background with experience in developing probability models for forecasting, prediction and inferences. You’ll be a solution finder, as well as an implementer and have the knowledge and know-what to advise on what tools and technologies would work best at solving certain problems.

    You’ll be looking at how to apply some of the more recent Data Science and Machine Learning models to problems such as Industry classification for segmenting risk and working out how to make the best use of large sets of third party data.

    What skills should I have?

    As our Senior Data Scientist you’ll have:

    • A degree in a Mathematic/Statistical related subject
    • Close to 10 years’ experience as a Data Scientist
    • Experience working in large, regulated environments (insurance, finance, medical etc)
    • A breadth of experience with a wide range of frameworks, tools and technologies. Including some NLP, Neural Networks and Cloud computing.


    What’s on offer?

    There’s a generous base salary of up to £100k on offer along with a car allowance, as well as bonus, flexible working (the return to office policy has yet to be confirmed, but we expect it to be a hybrid model with 1 or 2 days required in the office) and the usual benefits you’d expect from a multinational company such as healthcare, medical insurance etc.
