My client is looking for a Senior Data Scientist who is responsible for leading the efforts to build data products and internal solutions for some of the hardest problems, mainly in search and recommendations. You will see projects through from start to finish performing research, prototyping solutions, production deployment at scale and A/B testing to validate your solutions.

There are two roles available both highly specialised.

Senior Data Scientist – Recommendation Engine. You’ll be responsible for building their recommendations function from scratch. You’ll need at least two years proper hands-on experience in building recommendation engines capable of being used by millions of customers per day. You’ll own this from initial research, algorithmic discovery, production deployment, and A/B testing to validate your solutions. Only specialists with in-depth experience building, optimising and integrating recommendation engines can be considered.

Senior Data Scientist – Search Engines. You’ll be responsible for my client’s Search experience for users by building ranking models and utilising advanced natural language processing techniques to search queries to better understand user intent and experience. Only specialists who have at least two years hands-on technical expertise in building & maintaining search engines whiles utilising NLP techniques can be considered.


  • Minimum 5 years’ commercial experience (not academic)
  • Applying NLP techniques to search queries to better understand user-intent
  • Experience building recommendation systems from scratch
  • Proficiency in Python/Scala/Spark
  • Experience with Elasticsearch and wrangling huge data sets
  • Experience maintaining data processing pipelines with Hadoop, Spark, BigQuery, Redshift or similar
  • At least an MSc ideally in a quantitative subject

Nice to have

  • PhD in a STEM subject
  • Experience working in the music industry
  • Passion for Music
  • A background in engineering
