Children with Cancer UK

Children with Cancer UK is the leading national children’s charity dedicated to the fight against childhood cancer. Almost 4,000 children and young people are diagnosed with cancer every year in the UK. The charity’s aims are to determine the causes, find cures and provide care for children with cancer.

The strapline for Children with Cancer UK is ‘fighting the UK’s biggest child killer’. Sadly cancer is still the most common medical cause of death beyond infancy in children and young people in the UK. When Children with Cancer UK refers to a ‘child’ we use the definitions from the Office of National Statistics – meaning children aged from 1 to 15.

March

Mighty Deerstalker
The UK’s biggest night race.

In the Scottish borders, this 10k is probably the hardest off-road-Tweed-clad-pipe-lit-plus-four-and-headtorch-wearing run that exists. You are sent across rivers, through forests and over a mountain or 2 in the pitch dark of a chilly March night.

June

Tough Mudder
10-12 miles, 20+ obstacles

Held at Drumlanrig Castle, Tough Mudder is a 10-12 mile mud and obstacle course designed to drag you out of your comfort zone by testing your physical strength, stamina, and mental grit. With no podiums, winners, or clocks to race against, it’s not about how fast you can cross the finish line. Rather, it’s a challenge that emphasizes teamwork, camaraderie, and accomplishing something almost as tough as you are.

September

Coast to Coast
Run, Ride and Kayak 105 miles across the Scottish Highlands. The route of this two-day challenge takes in some of the most mysterious and wild locations in Scotland. Run, ride and kayak past Cawdor Castle, Loch Ness, Glen Nevis and Glen Coe, to name but a few stunning sights! The Highland terrain and weather breeds tough folk and if you take on this challenge then you will find out why.
