Great night at the first Scotland Data Science and Technology Meetup of 2017!

Thanks to everyone who attended Scotland Data Science and technology’s first meetup of 2017 at the tontine building in Glasgow last night.
It was great to see a full house once again.
Special thanks to our three speakers Dave Evans; Engineering Team Lead at FreeAgent, Nicholas J. Radcliffe from Stochastic Solutions Limited and Alan Kerr; Project Manager from Scottish Enterprise.
Dave from FreeAgent; the UK’s market-leading online accounting system designed specifically for micro-businesses and freelancers, focused on presenting the method FreeAgent have developed to estimate the residual lifetime value of future subscription payments from new and existing customers.
Nicholas from Stochastic Solutions Limited, presentation concentrated on Test-driven data analysis (TDDA) which seeks to take some of the ideas and practices from test-driven development and apply them, with appropriate modifications, to avoid some of the common pitfalls in data analysis. His presentation compared and contrasted mainstream TDD and TDDA, and talk about the challenges and ideas for improving the quality of data analysis using these and related ideas.
Alan from Scottish Enterprise, discussed the different innovation advisory services and grants available from the Innovation & Enterprise Services division of Scottish Enterprise.
Once again all presentations were insightful and thought provoking and we thank the speakers for taking their time to attend this Meetup.
We look forward to February’s Meetup!
