19th – 20th March
20 Castle Terrace,
Following on from the success of last year’s Datathon, Deloitte are hosting the “Financial Services for Good” Datathon Challenge on 19-20 March in their Edinburgh Office as an official Fringe event of DataFest 2018.
The event will start at midday on Monday 19 March running all day and into Tuesday, where we will have some exciting afternoon presentations. We are delighted to announce our speakers for the Deloitte Datathon will be Phil Grady, CEO of Castlight Financial, Nick Sherrard of Market Gravity, Bijna Dasani, Head of Architecture and Innovation, Lloyds Banking Group and Professor Georgios Panos, Glasgow University. The event will culminate in each of the speakers giving their insight to the industry, the challengers presenting their concepts to our esteemed judging panel, and a number of prizes and awards given out including a mentoring session with the CFO at Castlight Financial. There will also be the opportunity to network over refreshments at the end of the day.
They are looking for both participants for the Datathon as well as those who would like to attend the presentations on Tuesday.
The challenge will be “Financial Services for Good” – linking the concept of Financial Services information with trends in medical data and other social factors. This will lead towards the building of concepts, solutions and services to help address emerging financial distress or other issues.
This challenge will move the focus of this year’s event beyond the traditional scope of Financial services and will help to explore some of biggest challenges in society.
There are some brilliant prizes on offer for the:
– Most Innovative idea
– Deepest insight from the data
– Overall Winner.
Prizes include Amazon vouchers, software training and mentoring session with the CFO from Castlight.

There will be a number of prizes and awards given out to those with the most effective ideas. During this session, we will also hear from a variety of exciting guest speakers from various backgrounds. Our speakers will be announced shortly, so watch this space.

“The Datathon provided a great opportunity to meet other professionals interested in data in a fairly relaxed setting (in other words, over beers and pizza). Not only did bringing a variety of backgrounds together start some very interesting conversations, but it also helped everyone attending expand their networks.“
