Glasgow-headquartered MBN, the fast-growing search and recruitment consultancy, is on track for a record year having recorded a significant increase in activity in Scotland and across the UK in 2017.
The business is forecasting an uplift of approximately 15 per cent against 2016 (year to 31st January 2017) revenues of £4.2 million.
Working across multiple industry sectors and alongside companies ranging from startups to SMEs and larger corporates, including FTSE 100 constituents, approximately 60 per cent of MBN’s revenues are now derived from activity outside Scotland. At the same time, the maturity of the Scottish data and tech scene, particularly over the last 5 years, has seen revenues grow significantly in Scotland.
The consultancy has built expertise in data science, big data, analytics and technology, illustrated this year when the recruiter placed 50 The Data Lab-funded MSc data science students from seven universities across Scotland’s commercial and public sectors at organisations including the NHS, the Scottish Government, VisitScotland, Morgan Stanley, HSBC, Aggreko, STV, Aquila Insight and snap40.
Michael Young, CEO of MBN, said: “We are seeing a big shift in the market in terms of employer requirements with the adoption of in-house data capabilities, demand for skills in scaleable, open source technologies and the overall complexity of data-driven roles to the fore. We have carefully built a team with deep industry understanding and it’s great to see the successful business outcomes coming through, not only for MBN but across our client base.”
Robin Huggins, Head of Business Development at MBN, said: “Data science challenges and opportunities increasingly determine the commercial success of every organisation. ‘Data Scientist 2.0’ is our term for a super candidate. He or she has a mix of technical know-how and the softer business skills that can underpin an organisation’s path to digital transformation.”
Founded in 2007, the MBN team is now up to 25 and recently hired 3 more people to match increased activity this year.
