On the 15th October, the biggest brands in data, analytics and digital gathered at The Royal Institution in London’s Mayfair for the 4th Annual Data IQ Future Summit. As business models are facing greater transformational challenges, organisations are having to compete on analytics in order to stay ahead of the competition, particularly from industry-disrupting new entrants. This key theme was explored throughout the day; the impressive line-up of speakers identified and addressed those issues facing companies today, as well as focusing on the technology that will dictate business for the next 5 years.
The day kicked off with a morning session identifying the biggest digital trends and key shifts in consumer behaviour. The presentation, delivered by Christophe Jouan, CEO of Future Foundation explored these trends and their impact for any business looking to evolve. Following Christophe and leading into the mid-morning break, Pete Markey, CMO of Post Office, talked the audience through the transformation of the Post Office brand, creating a “red thread” of data to connect customer experiences across channels.
Perhaps the most relevant presentation from MBN’s perspective was the session delivered by Juan Mateos-Garcia entitled “Model Workers: How are leading UK companies securing and creating value from their data talent?” The central theme of the presentation focused on the findings of a research project that measures the skills needs of data-driven companies in 6 sectors. What became apparent is the difficulty in finding the “perfect analyst”, with 4 out of 5 companies reporting difficulty in recruiting. The presentation also quantified the impact of data talent on company performance; challenges which are faced by many organisations in the UK and Europe. As one of the leading recruiters for analytics, data and digital professions, MBN have placed more econometricians, data scientists, insight analysts and data technologists into the most profitable and fastest growing, data enabled businesses. We do this through adopting a number of unique approaches to lift the competitive talent out of the marketplace; namely thought leadership, data surveys and event hosting in London and Edinburgh.
