Blockchain use in day to day life &
Blockchain in Film

It was great to see everyone again at July's Scottish Blockchain Meetup.

Special thanks to our three speakers Paul Forrest, Philippe Meyer and Mike from blockchain Edinburgh.

Paul spoke about his experience in the film industry and how Blockchain could be utilised to streamline processes and ensure transparency. Paul demonstrated how Blockchain can serve as a decentralised and scalable solution to manage the increasing complexity of contemporary global networks and digital distribution models.

Also covered in the talk were Smart Contracts for Distribution, Copyright and Ownership Provenance, Combating Digital Piracy & Breaking Barriers for Smaller Players.

Philippe Meyer, Managing Director, Avaloq spoke about using Blockchain technology to pay for parking tickets and used real like examples form places such as Munich.
Mike demonstrated an alpha stage product for cryptocurrency trading. The first in a range of products, including international identification, property and ticketing, this real-time application provides traders with advance knowledge of currency pairs about to rise in price. A white paper for ICO will follow within the next couple of weeks.

In a 15 minute talk, Mike briefly demonstrated the application: it’s usefulness, it’s capability to identify false pumps, and how it exposes the flaws in CryptoPing, an alerts app completed ICO achieving $2.5M+ investment last weekend.

We hope everyone enjoyed the night and we look forward July’s Meetup.

Consultant of the year returns from dream holiday.

Settling back into work, Bali seems a distant memory for our Principal Consultant, Lauren Marshall.

Lauren received this award due to continuous determination and hard work throughout the year, achieving the status of MBN’s top performer of 2016.

Lauren: “It was amazing. We got to do so much when we were there. Our highlights would have to be: the exotic fire dance shows, the ancient temples and when we fed wild monkeys. It’s been one of the best holidays we have been on.”

It was great looking at all of Lauren’s photos and listening to all of her stories…we weren’t jealous at all!

We’re more than just another recruitment business…

MBN had a brilliant time on Saturday 24th June competing in a charity five-a-side tournament at Pro Soccer, Rouken Glen Park. Morgan Sindall hosted this competition on behalf of St Andrew’s Hospice in order to raise money for their capital appeal.

With 24 other businesses taking part, huge congratulations are in order to our MBN team members; Darrel, Kyle, Kris and Gary, who won the overall tournament.

The tournament raised over £1,500 for St Andrew’s Hospice.

MBN had a brilliant day with everyone involved and special thanks to Morgan Sindall for hosting this fun day.

2017 Challenges for Children with Cancer.

This year a team from MBN (Michael Young, Russell Dalgleish, Paul Forrest, Pete Docherty, Scott Dalgleish – so far)  will be taking on 3 (probably more) major obstacle courses – Mighty Deerstalker, Tough Mudder and Coast to Coast!

We would really appreciate if you could sponsor us, any donation would be great!

Our Just Giving Page

Children with Cancer UK

Children with Cancer UK is the leading national children’s charity dedicated to the fight against childhood cancer. Almost 4,000 children and young people are diagnosed with cancer every year in the UK. The charity’s aims are to determine the causes, find cures and provide care for children with cancer.

The strapline for Children with Cancer UK is ‘fighting the UK’s biggest child killer’. Sadly cancer is still the most common medical cause of death beyond infancy in children and young people in the UK. When Children with Cancer UK refers to a ‘child’ we use the definitions from the Office of National Statistics – meaning children aged from 1 to 15.

March - DONE

Mighty Deerstalker
The UK’s biggest night race.

In the Scottish borders, this 10k is probably the hardest

off-road-Tweed-clad-pipe-lit-plus-four-and-headtorch-wearing run that exists. You are sent across rivers, through forests and over a mountain or 2 in the pitch dark of a chilly March night.

June - DONE

Tough Mudder
10-12 miles, 20+ obstacles

Held at Drumlanrig Castle, Tough Mudder is a 10-12 mile mud and obstacle course designed to drag you out of your

comfort zone by testing your physical strength, stamina, and mental grit. With no podiums, winners, or clocks to race against, it’s not about how fast you can cross the finish line. Rather, it’s a challenge that emphasizes teamwork, camaraderie, and accomplishing something almost as tough as you are.

Coast to Coast
Run, Ride and Kayak 105 miles

across the Scottish Highlands. The route of this two-day challenge takes in some of the most mysterious and wild locations in Scotland. Run, ride and kayak past Cawdor Castle, Loch Ness, Glen Nevis and Glen Coe, to name but a few stunning sights! The Highland terrain and weather breeds tough folk and if you take on this challenge then you will find out why.
