WED 19TH JUNE 6PM - 9PM, EDINBURGH.

Eventbrite tickets available here or join the Scottish Blockchain Meetup here.

Andreas M. Antonopoulos is a best-selling author, speaker, educator, and one of the world’s foremost bitcoin and open blockchain experts. He is known for delivering electric talks that combine economics, psychology, technology, and game theory with current events, personal anecdote, and historical precedent effortlessly transliterating the complex issues of blockchain technology out of the abstract and into the real world.

In 2014, Antonopoulos authored the groundbreaking book, Mastering Bitcoin (O’Reilly Media), widely considered to be the best technical guide ever written about the technology. His second book, The Internet of Money, unveiled the “why” of bitcoin—and became a bestseller on Amazon— and led to the wildly successful follow-up The Internet of Money Volume Two. His fourth book, Mastering Ethereum (O’Reilly Media) was published in December of 2018.

He is a teaching fellow with the University of Nicosia, serves on the Oversight Committee for the Bitcoin Reference Rate at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, and has appeared as an expert witness in hearings around the world, including the Australian Senate Banking Committee and the Canadian Senate Commerce, Banking and Finance Committee

Stephen Hill – Executive Consultant

How long have you worked at MBN?
I have been with the business for just over 18 months. For all the right reasons, it feels much longer than this!

What’s been your biggest challenge?
I moved to MBN after working for a larger Recruitment organisation. At first, the freedom and flexibility I had at MBN was strange and I had trouble adapting to this after having to run everything past senior managers in my previous role. This is now my favourite part about the business!

And, your greatest success?
This is easy. When I came into MBN, my recruitment experience was limited to working on candidate sourcing. Fast-forward 18 months and I now have my own client base and I am working with some of the most innovative organisations in the market. I have to believe in what my client is doing before I work with them and thankfully this has always helped me deliver the best solutions and talent into organisations I partner with.

A recent example would be working with a huge American owned company on an exclusive basis for all hires across their Edinburgh office. I have since placed half of their Software Development team and helped them secure the hire of one of the top Software Development Managers in Edinburgh!

Why did you choose to work in your market?
I get excited by finding out about what projects Developers, Engineers, Testers and DevOps professionals work on. Some totally change how the world evolves, others create things that can save lives and many create cool products and services that appeal to the masses. This hands down beats any other market I have sourced and recruited into.

What is your motto or personal mantra?
Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 6 rules of life: 1. Trust yourself 2. Break some rules 3. Don’t be afraid to fail 4. Ignore the naesayers 5. Work like hell 6. Give something back.
