Join us as we partner with GFK on 23rd April at 6pm GMT to bring you a virtual event where we explore the topic ‘Why Collaboration is at the Heart of Success in Data Science’.

As Data Science continues to become a focus for an increasing number of enterprises, many organisations are realising just how expansive the subject is and the critical dependency on alignment with other new and emerging technologies and systems such as machine learning and artificial intelligence.

Clearly, such activities depend upon talent to ensure full potential is achieved. Many enterprises underestimate the importance of having the right people and skills in place to maximise the prospects on offer. But this is only the start. Beyond such skills and technologies, a real cultural shift must be achieved. Collaboration is at the heart of this shift.

Strategy, Data Engineering, Product Development, Statistical Modelling and Data Science require a string team-based ethic matched with aligned goals, shared vision and delivery excellence to deliver outcomes that matter.

SPEAKERS:

Dr. Markus Ziegler, Head of Data Science at GfK

Markus Ziegler is the Head of Data Science UK for GfK. He has been with the company for more than ten years working in several analytics and Data Science roles in Germany and the UK.

He has a background in Social Sciences and holds a PhD from TU Berlin. GfK have more than 85 years of experience in combining data and science to help their clients make effective business decisions. With their attention to detail and advanced AI, GfK provide world-class analytics that deliver not just descriptive data but actionable recommendations.

Yu Fu, Principal in Global Data Science Team at GfK

Yu is the Principal of Machine Learning Engineer in London. She joined GFK last May. Yu got her PhD on machine learning in the UK. Yu Fu (Principal Machine Learning Engineer) and Markus Ziegler (Head of Data Science, Market Insights) will illustrate how GfK’s solutions centre upon the collaboration of Data Science and Machine Learning, why this approach is important and how Product and Engineering teams link to deliver Data Science solutions for GfK.

Jan Teichmann, Senior Data Science Consultant at Trainline

Jan is a successful leader and consultant in the data transformation efforts of companies and has a track record of bringing data science into commercial production usage at scale.

He previously co-founded Cambridge Energy Data Lab where they celebrated a successful exit with Enechange.jp, an utility comparison platform, which is now the market leader in Japan. He also used his skills previously to lead the data science teams at the Rank Group and Zoopla. Jan has since established his own consultancy and is currently working with Trainline on some exciting new data driven innovation projects.

Paul Forrest, Chairman at MBN Solutions

Paul has some twenty-five years experience of helping businesses to solve complex business problems, deliver their transformation goals and to achieve tangible strategic outcomes.

Hands on and deep thinking, he has worked with many FTSE 100 clients, Global 500 businesses and major Government entities around the world including Ford Motor Company, VAG Group, BAE Systems, GSK, AkzoNobel, RBS, HBOS, Diageo, Bacardi, Wal-Mart, British Airways, Virgin Galactic, Etisalat, British Telecom, Vodafone and Allen & Overy.

Paul also sits on the board of a number of agile, disruptive and challenger businesses whilst supporting value creation programmes for Private Equity backed businesses.
