    Head of Machine learning Engineering Edinburgh (Fully Remote Working)

    MBN are partnering exclusively with a Digital Bank in Edinburgh to help them appoint a Head of Machine Learning Engineering. You will become a key member of the data & analytics leadership team helping shape the engineering and ML deployment strategy, lead an advanced team of ML Engineers and create a modern cloud infrastructure for models and data pipelines to be productionised at scale.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead the development and delivery of the ML engineering strategy (which is aligned with the data science, analytics, and customer strategy) to use data to make more intelligent decisions across the business which leverages group assets and improve customer outcomes.
    • Communicate the actions needed to implement the function's strategy and business plan within the team; explain the relationship to the broader organisation's mission, vision, and values; motivate people to commit to these and to doing extraordinary things to achieve local business goals.
    • Manage and report on the performance of a substantial, diverse team; set appropriate performance priorities for direct reports or project / account team members and hold them accountable for achieving these; take appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of team / personal priorities.
    • Design and embed the control environment that underpins robust build and run of analytical assets. Ensure governance of online and offline data science products. Ensure build and run states of data, model and software products are fit for purpose.
    • Promote a culture of innovation by creating solutions that boost creativity, innovation, and collaboration, such as idea generation platforms, jam sessions, and hackathons.
    • Work closely with decision makers across value streams to improve the adoption of analytics in business operations. Proactively Identify key roadblocks and address them while creating data products which are easy to use.
    • Lead all the software tooling required to build and maintain advanced analytics products and ensure colleagues have the right tools to do their jobs well while fostering innovation and adoption of analytics. Partner with Data and Technology team and lead the provision of analytical environment to ensure data scientists and analysts have the best setup to build innovative and robust analytics solutions.

    Sills & Experience:

    • Highly established leader with a track record of managing mid to large Data Science functions.
    • Strong Machine Learning background with good technical knowledge who is able to support and challenge technical aspects of the teams work.
    • Strategic, big picture thinker who is able to implement major initiatives.
    • Understanding of infrastructure and modern cloud environments with the capability to deploy and scale ML algorithms.
    • High level influencer who is able to capture the imagination of stakeholders through their storytelling capabilities.
    • Passionate visionary who will motivate their business function to drive value through the use of insight and analytics.
